Way back in the mist of meter , Aaron Sorkin was approached by Pixar — in the shape of Steve Jobs — to write an animated feature film for the studio apartment . It never materialise , but Sorkin ’s still got that approximation kicking around .
Speaking toDigital Spy , Sorkin revealed that he wanted to do a sort of Shoemaker and the Elves meets Toy Story form of idea :
What I was thinking about was everything we apply to write : papers , laptop , those thing . The writer , he ’d be a secondary character .

All these objective you ’d find in an authority [ would amount to life ] … Yes , do n’t limit it to just what you ’d use for writing , actually .
Sorkin goes on to explain that his inspiration is a put-on about a author with author ’s cube who finds completed scripts on his desk , rejuvenating his calling . One dark , he outride up to regain a leprechaun is doing all the work :
And the leprechaun says , ‘ Well , it would be big if you could partake in screenwriting citation with me … ’ So the writer say , ‘ Go f**k yourself . ’

So my Pixar estimate is that instead of it being a leprechaun , it ’s all the objects in his authority . What if all the objects in his billet are trying to help him out ?
But I do n’t have a 2d or a third act . I hear they ’re important in flick !
It ’s Sorkin at his Sorkiniest , writing about a author not being capable to write . He ’s done a variation of that plot in three separate boob tube shows . And yet , he could n’t finish this story . I can see the recursive end now : a movie about author ’s block , broken by animate office equipment , and the writer eventually manages to compose his own acclaimed script — about sentient office equipment . And so on , ad infinitum .
