There is some irony to doing this countdown since the book is already ship to folks who pre - ordered it via an online retailer such asAmazon , but the official date stand , and that ’s the object — the last date — of this countdown , February 13 . And for what it ’s deserving , while the physical copies are mailing now from retailer , the Kindle version wo n’t turn on until February 13 . Still , the digital version costs less .
As I ’ve noted onTwitter , this track - a - solar day glide slope is on the dot the antonym of the book ’s approach , which is a collection of interrelated , reportage - based essays .

“ Shiny Metal Rods ” is another racecourse I search in some detail in the record ( chapter two : “ Background metre ” ) , so I wo n’t belabour the point here except to say : if there is any rail that apply dwell to the oft - reduplicate idea that this record album is “ beatless , ” it is “ Shiny Metal Rods . ”
The track is little more than metre — severely , drive , slow , unbendable beats that could be from a bootleg of a Consolidated or Meat Beat Manifesto concert .
