Twitter is a great way to communicate direct with everyone from Kim Kardashian to President Trump . Even the Pope is on Twitter , provide a unmediated line to Catholicism ’s top dog . But late people have been taking the idiom “ Is the Pope Catholic ? ” less as a rhetorical gimmick and more as a literal question .
We recentlywrote abouta tweet from Pope Francis that tell the Bible ask us to welcome migrants and foreigner . Many Twitter user were not happyabout that .
“ How often in the Bible the Lord ask us to welcome migrants and foreigners , reminding us that we too are foreigners ! ” the Pope tweeted from the official Pontifex Twitter account .
Ever since that tweet , people have been read anything the Pope says as a subtweet to President Trump and his harsh policies on in-migration and refugee . With Trump ’s most late directives — which can be liberally interpreted as orders todeport all 11 million undocumented peoplecurrently in the US — the ire against the Pope has pushed into overdrive .
“ Jesus leave to Peter the tonality to open up the entrance to the kingdom of heaven , and not to shut down it , ” the Pope tweetedjust an 60 minutes ago . Judging by the reaction , the great unwashed on Twitter seem to think ( belike justifiably ) that this might have something to do with President Trump closing America ’s doors to immigrants and refugees .
And yet again , we have plenty of Christians on Twitter explain the Bible to the Pope :

I ’m still stuck on what to call this phenomenon . Popesplaining ? Biblesplaining ? Being an all around dick to the person who you believe is the congresswoman of God ’s parole on Earth ?
