For the first several episodes , Cult focused mainly on the fandom of its fictional television show , emphasise the water parting between casual fans of the show ( and a few nutter ) and the True Believers . Admittedly , I ’m watching Cult because it is a show about fandom , a show that pokes at notion of “ real fan ” and roleplaying and spoiler acculturation . After interviewing the current possessor of the house , a woman named Annabelle , Jeff and Skye realize the verity : Sakelik , Annabelle , and several other child were members of a cultus , holed up in a house called Moon Hill .
Annabelle confess that , when they were all shaver , the adults on the spur of the moment disappeared one day . The children were left to stand for themselves , leaving Sakelik as the leader of a juvenile gang of thief . Using a map of star ’ homes , they robbed wealthy homes to sustain themselves ; until one night , when they were surprised by one of the homes ’ owners : the noted actress Olivia Leland . In a moment clearly enliven by the execution of Sharon Tate , Sakelik murdered Leland , a murder that was never figure out . She gives Jeff a bloody map that demonstrate Sakelik ’s guilt , but is afterwards shot by Sakelik .
