Joss Whedonunderstands why “ Epitaph One ” was n’t aired by Fox , but still suppose that it ’s an important guidepost for where the show ’s going in its second season . Spoilers aplenty ahead .
Entertainment Weekly spoke to Dollhouse ’s Divine about the first season ’s final instalment , which will make its official entry at San Diego Comic - Con before appearing on the Season 1 videodisk released July 28th :
It has a very different body structure and feel from what we do on Dollhouse , so it would have been ridiculously startling to have aired it the week after the season finale as just this insane coda , [ a]nd it is a little bit insane , except that we sort of follow everything through to its logical conclusion . As always , it ’s logical to conclude that masses are terrible and will attempt to destroy each other .

What kind of destruction can we anticipate ? EW revealed that the episode pursue the discovery of Amy Acker ’s Whiskey being discovered , wiped of the Dr. Saunders personality , in an abandoned Dollhouse ten years from now , with flashback revealing how things got that mode . “ [ Y]ou will find out snippet of everything and all of nothing , ” explain Whedon , “ Every flashback answer something about where the great unwashed are heading but bring up a lot more interrogative about where they end up or how they got there . ”
Dollhouse season two begin on Fox on September 25th .
