Telling his kids apart is easy in the present day, but the past is another story for father of fiveJames Van Der Beek.
The only problem? Van Der Beek, 42, had no idea which of his children — sonJoshua, 7, plus daughtersGwendolyn, 9 months,Emilia, 3, Annabel Leah, 5, andOlivia, 8½ — was in the snap with him.
“Came across this pic today. If I’m being completely honest … I have no idea which kid this is,” Van Der Beek captioned the shot. “But reasonably sure it’s mine 👍😎”

“I’m guessing Olivia … but could be Joshua,” theDawson’s Creekalum replied.
Kimberly quipped in a confident follow-up comment, “Actually … I think Olivia.”
The date stamp may have given the parents a clue, though. As Van Der Beek explained in a reply to his wife’s latter remark, “Just checked the date on the photo. If it’s correct (and not the date it was imported or screen-grabbed) … this is Annabel,” adding wide-eyed, red heart and crying-laughing emojis.

Van Der Beek previously opened up about the challenges he and Kimberly, 37, face in making time for each of their kids individually, revealing thatthey make it a priority to do so.
“Trickiest thing with multiple kids is carving out one-on-one time with each of them … but it’s SO important,” the formerDon’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23star captioned a March 2018 photo gallery featuring himself, a then-pregnant Kimberly and Annabel enjoying a day of fun without her siblings.
He added, “Had a million things I wanted to get done today, but ultimately, none it would have held a candle to watching my #3thrive when asked somethingshe’s rarely ever asked: What do YOU want to do?”
