The tradesreported that a studio bidding war started over the next grown YA Holy Writ , Incarceron . The novel ’s weird mix of technology and social atavism might be the stuff our steampunk dreams are made of . Here ’s the synopsis :
Incarceron a futuristic prison , sealed from view , where the descendants of the original prisoners live in a sullen world torn by competition and savagery . It is a terrifying mix of high-pitched engineering a living construction which riddle the novel as an ever - watchful , ever - vengeful character , and a typical mediaeval agony chamber chains , corking halls , dungeons . A young prisoner , Finn , has haunting imagination of an earlier life , and can not trust he was born here and has always been here .

In the outer world , Claudia , daughter of the Warden of Incarceron , is trapped in her own form of prison a futurist earthly concern constructed attractively to see like a retiring era , an at hand marriage she dreads . She knows nothing of Incarceron , except that it exists . But there comes a moment when Finn , inside Incarceron , and Claudia , outside , simultaneously find a gadget a crystal Francis Scott Key , through which they can talk to each other .
