watch “ Into the Wild Green Yonder , ” the quaternary and final instalment in Futurama ’s mostly splendid series of unmediated - to - DVD releases , I was reminded of a Simpsons comment ( or several ) , where the writers mention what a pleasure it is to ascertain the show with an audience of devotee at conventions . Hence , viewing “ Yonder ” in a pile auditorium full of sci - fi geeks made the film feel like an previous favorite you catch on Adult Swim at 3 AM . Time will tell how it holds up on future viewing . “ The Simpsons Movie ” felt like a time of year five classic when I saw it at a sell - out midnight showing . Yet its lineament diminish ever so slightly on subsequent HBO wake .

The Hypno - Toad ’s blink - and - you’ll - miss - it cameo was meet with enraptured hand clapping . And Zapp Brannigan receive such a affectionate welcome you ’d think Billy West was sitting on level hold back to moderate the cast and crowd instrument panel . ( Alas , there was no venire . )
And as always , since the Futurama piece of writing squad is stocked with more Harvard mathematics Major than Texas Instruments , there ’s a couple of science references clearly mean for about .01 % of the audience . I put toy in quote because it just does n’t seem good to call a King Kong themed mini golf hole in space that would have to be many , many ( many ) naut mi long “ mini . ” The King Kong hole also abide an uncanny similarity to the one located in Springfield ’s “ Sir Putt - A - Lot ’s Merrie Olde Fun Centre , ” where Bart and Todd Flanders once battle and also where Bart was in fact conceived . The only question left to ponder is whether this is really the last we ’ll see of Futurama . 88 episodes and four feature - length flick leave a hatful to cherish , and it ’s passably damn plentiful compared to other goggle box cancellation tragedies . ( Firefly , Arrested Development , Mr. Show … shall I carry on ? )
