It turns out that when Power Rangers made it to try out audiences , no one liked the candy kiss between Kimberly ( Naomi Scott ) and Jason ( Dacre Montgomery ) . And it was n’t a bunch of nostalgia - drive fans pissed off because obviously Kimberly should only ever be paired with Tommy , who is n’t even in this movie .
I will admit that when theteaser trailercame online and this happened :
I was one of those people screaming bloody murder . Because I obviously still have very strong feelings for a show I watched when I was in kindergarten . And the fact that this kiss — which wasin trailersjust a few months ago — was missing from the last picture show was a scrap of a backup .

Apparently I was n’t alone in my disapproval . Director Dean Israelitetold EWthat preview audiences unanimously hat the scene . Part of the trouble was that it took a scene about Kimberly ’s evolution and turn it into one about the kinship between her Jason . “ For that scene to culminate in some kind of romantic moment between her and Jason subvert her character and feel a little previous - fashioned and becomes a motion picture figure of the female lead there to support some variety of virile spark , ” sound out Israelite .
Also give Israelite credit for take care an audience reaction and not chew out about them not getting his film . He not only agrees , but likes how the run audience respond . “ I intend it was in reality kind of lovely that the audience pushed so hard against that , and the moment we take it out , everybody care Kimberly way more and feel she was much stronger , and I have intercourse that we grow that reaction , ” he said .
And since we ’ve been rally with the show of Tommy in a sequel , I can only go for that my inner five - year - old become to relive seeing the most crucial relationship in Power Rangers history . I will not rationalize for caring too much about these two .
