Justin Bieberis going through a bit of a rough patch right now, but he’s getting the help he needs, sources tell PEOPLE.
“Justin seems down and tired. He has been struggling a bit,” a Bieber source says, adding that the 24-year-old pop star’s difficulties aren’t related to his recent marriage to Hailey Baldwin.
“It has nothing to do with Hailey — he is very happy being married to her. It’s just something else that he struggles with mentally,” the source continues. “He has good help around him and is receiving some treatment. He seems confident he will feel better soon.”
A second source close to Bieber confirms to PEOPLE he’s getting counseling. A rep for the singer didn’t immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

A third source who has spent time with Bieber over the years tells PEOPLE that the singer is “emotional and struggles a lot with the idea of fame.”

The insider also tells PEOPLE that growing up, Justin felt a lot of pressure to succeed from his parents, fatherJeremy Bieberand motherPattie Mallette.
“His parents wanted this for him probably even more than he did,” the source says. “He and Jeremy have a complicated relationship. Jeremy pushed him really hard and expected a lot out of him. He’s been up and down with Pattie too.”

In his recent interview forVogue‘s March coverwith his new wife, Bieber opened up about how becoming so famous at such a young ageaffected his mental health.
“I started really feeling myself too much. ‘People love me, I’m the s—,’ that’s honestly what I thought. I got very arrogant and cocky. I was wearing sunglasses inside,” he told the outlet as Baldwin emphasized, “At night inside.”
Drugs — and “a legitimate problem with sex” — came with making millions at 20 years old, Bieber admitted.
“I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed,” he said.
Naturally, these struggles bled into his career. In 2017, he canceled his Purpose world tour with 14 shows left amid rumors about his mental health.
“Igot really depressed on tour,” he recalled. “I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.”

Prior to canceling his tour, Biebercanceled future fan meet-and-greets, claiming, “I end up so drained and unhappy … to the point of depression” after them.
After a negative encounter with fans two months later, Bieber went on to lash out on Instagram, saying he was “done taking pictures” with fans because “it has gotten to the point that people don’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human.”
Baldwin has been a source of support for Bieber, especially recently, as he’s beenphotographed visibly upsetonmultiple occasions.
“He is very much grateful for his amazing life and especially for Hailey,” an insider previously told PEOPLE “It’s difficult for him that he can’t just enjoy everything and feel happy. He has been in treatment for this before.”
