While some would assume that being a royal, regardless of age, is associated with poise and perfection, Louis proves in these new photos that there’s always time for some fun in the grass — even if that means getting dirty and being caught in the action!
As he was captured playing outside, Louis’ red sweater and navy pants became covered in grass. Still, that didn’t stop Kate and William’s youngest child from enjoying the moment as he showed off his giant smile and blonde locks, which were combed to the side.

His style also mirrored that of his big brother’s. Besides the snaps showing Louis in his red sweater, the little royal also wore a blue sweater fromTrottersfeaturing a puppy — recalling the striped whale sweater that George wore in theportraits released in honor of his third birthdayin 2016.
Louis’ cheerful demeanor in the images is typical of the little royal, according to a source close to the family.
“He really is the most cheerful, smiley little boy,” the source told PEOPLE. “He’s always so happy and content.”
Keeping with tradition,Kate got behind the camerato take the sweet photos. The royal mom, whostudied art history at the University of St. Andrews, is a keen photographer and regularly shares photos she’s taken of her royal children.
From birthday shots to first day of school moments, Kate can usually be found behind the camera capturing her family’s special memories.
Kate, 37, was behind thefirst official portraits of Louis, released just two weeks after his birth. A solo shot of Louis in a cozy white outfit was taken on April 26, justthree days after his birth. And the little prince is wide awake in his first-ever portrait.
