Patricia Arquettehas nothing but fond memories of her late friend Luke Perry.
Speaking with PEOPLE Thursday during Visionary Women’s Second Annual International Women’s Day Awards atSpagoin Beverly Hills, California, the actress called Perry an “incredible person” whom she had never heard talk badly about anyone over the course of their 30-year-friendship, before the actordied on Monday following a massive strokeat the age of 52.
“He was just a kind, gentle human being and I think a lot of us, we go through life, we grow up, we have to try to make amends for mistakes we make during the course of our life and Luke didn’t have to do that,” said Patricia, 50. “Lukewas a very pure person. He was a very good person and a beautiful, wonderful man.”
“He loved women,” she continued. “He revered women and heloved being a dad to his kidsSophie and Jack. I really am floored and heartbroken that he is not here and I just can’t really get my head around it.”

Patricia’s brotherDavid Arquettealso offered kind words to PEOPLE regarding theRiverdaleactor, remembering him as “a tremendous friend and just an incredible person.”
“Everyone loved him. He had such an incredible wit and humor,” said David, 47. “I have so many memories of him. I mean, when he got cast for [Beverly Hills,90210], he was renting a room in my mother’s house where we grew up, so it was a really exciting time for him.”
“And lastly, I’d like to say just that everyone’s really going to miss him,” he added. “He’s just such a sweet, unique person. But henever let Hollywood get to him. He was alwaysthe kid from Ohio that justreally made it big in Hollywood but never took it too seriously.”
