Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones was arrested in Las Vegas Thursday for allegedly violating a temporary protective order, PEOPLE can confirm.
According to records from the Clark County Detention Center, Jones, 33, violated a temporary protective order in relation to a domestic violence incident. He remains in custody as of Friday morning.
Jones, who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2015 before joining the Raiders in 2022, is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of Dec. 4, per arrest records.
On Friday, the team issued a statement about Jones on X, formerly known as Twitter. “The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs. He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment.”
PEOPLE has reached out to the Las Vegas Raiders and Jones' agent for comment.
The athlete’s arrest comes amid concern from friends, fans and family for Jones' mental health following a string of erratic behavior on social media.

According toNFL.com, Jones said he was “confused on what I did wrong” in a now-deleted post, adding that “the police said that people were concerned about me because of my posts online.”
The Raiders placed Jones on its non-football illness list on Sept. 20,NFL.comreported, noting that the player “will be out indefinitely as he deals with a personal issue.” The status update came after Jones' absence over the weeks prior.
“It’s a personal situation and a private matter,” Raiders head coach Josh McDanielssaidwhile addressing questions about Jones' status on Sept. 6. “We have dealt with it, and I am not going to talk about it.”

Jones drew more concern on social media this week before his arrest when he made surprising claims about McDaniels and the 2017 death of former football player and convicted murderer,Aaron Hernandez.
“Y’all don’t know what Josh McDaniels really did to Aaron Hernandez… Y’all thought Aaron Hernandez killed himself in jail,” Jones said on a live stream, per thePost.
