Of all the Queen Elizabeths in history , Elizabeth Woodville was definitely the most badass — which makes one wonder why she has n’t receive the same amount of attention as subsequent Elizabeths .
It might have something to do with the fact that the British monarchy hated her guts , mainly because they felt she used her feminine chicane to nab herself the king and was completely nepotistic after the crown was hers . Can you blame a girl for trying ?

Elizabeth Woodville was the firstborn of fourteen children born to the Earl of Rivers and his married woman , Jacquetta , in February 1437 . She married young to Earl John Grey ( but not like the tea – that dude came later ) . She expect him two sons , Richard and Thomas . alas for Elizabeth and her male child , the Earl was toss off in the Battle of Saint Albans and all of her dower country were confiscated by the Yorks . gravely down on her destiny , she propel back home with her parent .

Ballsy , perhaps , but her architectural plan worked — if it ’s honest . So , King Edward ’s pal Richard became the Lord Protector and start running the show . His first orderliness of business was to get disembarrass of Elizabeth and all her “ fake children ” — in fact , he was so paranoid about them that he locked her two sons in the Tower of London . What happened to them after that became one of the most infamous mysteries in British account and has been portray quite famously in several painting .
