Wendy Williamshas kept her distance from her estranged husband since their split.
Williams, 54,filed for divorcefromKevin Hunterearlier this month after learning that he allegedlyfathered a child with his mistress. Now, a source tells PEOPLE that Hunter “realizes he really messed up.”
“He’s taken a very somber position and is just trying to focus on what’s next,” the source says. “Initially when he and Wendy decided to split they had agreed that he could stay on as her manager. Then she saw new pictures of him out with the mistress again and she cut him completely off, shut down accounts, everything.”
According to the source, they’ve “had zero contact” since and Williams “has nothing to say to him.”
They’ve also cut ties professionally: He wasremoved as executive producerofTheWendy WilliamsShowlast week. A spokesperson forTheWendy WilliamsShowsays they are not hiring an EP to replace him: “David Perler, who has served as showrunner for the past nine years, and Wendy will remain as our sole executive producers.”
A rep for Williams’ did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. Hunter could not be reached for comment.

An insider recently told PEOPLE that the daytime host believes Hunter’s alleged affair has beengoing on for more than a decade.
“It’s hard after being married for so long and having a family together, to be able to move forward,” added the insider of Williams, who shares son Kevin Jr., 19, with Hunter. “But she realized she had to open her eyes to a bad marriage. So many stick around when they should get out.”
Hunterbroke his silenceon the split in a statement to PEOPLE last week, admitting he was “not proud of my recent actions” and apologizing “to my wife, my family and her amazing fans.”
“I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs,” he said. “No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine.”
Williams “became tearful” when asked if there was any truth to the poisoning claim but ultimately denied any poisoning had occurred, according to the police report. The officers left after Williams assured them she was safe.
While Williams hasn’t directly addressed the situation with Hunter on her show, she did reveal on-air last month that she has beenliving in a sober house. (She’s been open about a past addiction to cocaine.)
Last week, she said she would “moving out of the sober house in just a few days” andalluded to the divorce, saying she has a “whole new life” planned for her and her son.
